Terms of Service
Last updated: July 14, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the websites, products, and services provided by College Visit, Inc. ("College Visit," "we," "our," or "us"), including CollegeVisit.ai and our personalized college-visit tools, guides, recommendations, and related features (collectively, the "Services").
Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, purchasing or using the Services, or otherwise indicating your agreement, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal information.
These Terms contain an arbitration agreement and class-action waiver in Section 17. Except as described there, disputes must be resolved through individual binding arbitration. You may opt out within 30 days after first accepting these Terms.
1. Eligibility and students
You must be at least 16 years old to independently create or use a College Visit account. When you register, you must affirmatively confirm that you are at least 16. If you are 16 or 17, you may use the Services only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
A parent or legal guardian may use an account on behalf of a student and may provide information about that student. A student under 16 may not independently create or use an account. The Services are not directed to children under 13.
You may use the Services only in compliance with these Terms and applicable law.
2. What College Visit provides
College Visit provides technology to help prospective students and their families prepare for, experience, and reflect on college visits. Features may include:
- personalized college-visit itineraries;
- campus and surrounding-community recommendations;
- suggested questions, observation prompts, and reflection tools;
- Visit Guides and Decision Guides;
- tools for organizing information about visits; and
- AI-enabled personalization and content generation.
College Visit is an independent technology service. It is not a college, university, admissions office, educational institution, admissions consultant, college counselor, financial-aid advisor, or travel agency. We do not make admissions decisions or guarantee admission, enrollment, financial aid, academic success, student satisfaction, travel arrangements, or any other outcome.
The Services support your own research and decision-making. They do not replace information from a college or university or advice from a qualified professional.
3. Accounts, guest access, and security
Some features may be available before registration. Guest trips are associated with a browser session credential so that the same browser can retrieve and edit the trip. Do not share or expose that credential. Guest access may be lost if browser data is cleared, the credential expires, or the trip is claimed by an account.
When creating an account, you agree to provide accurate and reasonably complete information. You are responsible for protecting your login credentials and for activity through your account, except to the extent caused by College Visit's acts or omissions. You may not sell or transfer your account or provide it for use by an unrelated person or household.
Notify support@collegevisit.ai promptly if you believe your account or trip has been accessed without authorization.
4. Personalization information
The Services may request information about a student and a planned visit, including colleges under consideration, visit dates, origin, travel-party information, academic and extracurricular interests, preferences, priorities, budget range, dietary or accessibility preferences, and free-text context.
You decide what to provide and are responsible for having authority to provide information about another person. Do not submit medical records, financial-account information, government identification numbers, passwords, or other highly sensitive information unless we specifically request it for a stated purpose.
5. Artificial intelligence and personalized content
The Services use artificial intelligence and other automated technologies to generate, organize, personalize, and present content. Information you submit, including free-text responses and structured preferences, may be processed by third-party AI service providers acting for College Visit.
AI-generated and personalized content may contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or inaccurate conclusions. We do not guarantee that any recommendation, description, characterization, itinerary, summary, or other output is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for a particular student.
Confirm important information directly with the applicable college, venue, or provider. This includes admissions requirements, programs, tuition, financial aid, housing, accessibility, campus policies, tours, event availability, deadlines, operating hours, transportation, health, and safety information. Do not rely on College Visit as the sole basis for an admissions, enrollment, financial, academic, travel, health, or safety decision.
6. Third-party and public information
The Services may use, summarize, organize, or link to information from colleges, universities, businesses, event organizers, mapping and place-information services, and public websites. That information may change without notice or be inaccurate, unavailable, incomplete, or outdated.
College Visit does not control third parties and does not guarantee the availability, quality, safety, legality, or accuracy of a third-party business, event, location, activity, product, or service. A reference to a third party is not a guarantee or endorsement. You are responsible for confirming information and exercising appropriate judgment.
7. Purchases, access periods, and refunds
College Visit may offer one-time school credits, multi-school bundles, fixed-term access plans, or other paid Services. The price, included features, and access period will be shown before purchase.
Purchases do not automatically renew. In particular, a one-year access purchase provides access for 365 days beginning on the purchase date. It expires at the end of that period, and we will not charge you again unless you make a new purchase. School-credit and bundle purchases are also one-time purchases.
Payments are processed by Stripe. You authorize the charge shown at checkout and agree to provide valid payment information. College Visit does not directly store full payment-card numbers.
Because paid features generate personalized content, purchases are generally non-refundable after the applicable content or access has been successfully generated and made available. Contact support@collegevisit.ai about duplicate charges, technical failures, or other problems. We may provide a refund, credit, or other accommodation where appropriate. Nothing in these Terms limits a right or remedy that cannot legally be waived.
We may change future prices and offerings, but a change will not retroactively alter a completed purchase or shorten an access period already purchased.
8. Personal and family use
A purchase is for the account holder and the student or family using that account. You may not resell or commercially redistribute the Services, transfer paid credits or an account to an unrelated person or household, operate an account-sharing service, use a consumer account to provide services commercially to third parties, or circumvent purchase limits or access controls.
9. User content
The Services may let you submit or store preferences, free-text responses, notes, observations, reflections, feedback, and other material ("User Content"). You retain any ownership rights you have in your User Content.
You grant College Visit a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, analyze, adapt, and use User Content as reasonably necessary to:
- provide, personalize, maintain, secure, and support the Services;
- generate content and features you request;
- troubleshoot and improve the Services and their quality; and
- create aggregated or deidentified information as described in the Privacy Policy.
This license permits our service providers to process User Content on our behalf. It does not authorize us to publish an identifiable student's individual notes or reflections for unrelated advertising or give a college access to an identifiable student's individual decision process unless the user directs or authorizes the disclosure.
You represent that you have the rights and permissions necessary to provide User Content. You may not submit content that is unlawful, fraudulent, malicious, infringes another person's rights, or that you are not authorized to provide.
Aggregated and deidentified information
As described in our Privacy Policy, College Visit may create aggregated or deidentified information from information collected through or derived from the Services.
We may use, develop, commercialize, and disclose aggregated or deidentified information for purposes including analytics, product development, and institutional insight products.
These insights may describe patterns concerning prospective student interests, preferences, priorities, questions, concerns, and college-visit experiences.
Our institutional insight products are not intended to provide colleges or other institutions with identifiable student profiles or access to an individual student's notes, reflections, or personal college-decision process.
We may use and disclose aggregated or deidentified information to the extent permitted by applicable law and consistent with our Privacy Policy.
10. Sharing features
If you enable a public share link, anyone who obtains the link may view the information presented on the shared trip page. Depending on the trip, this may include colleges, visit dates, itinerary details, origin or transportation context, traveler information, budget category, and selected preferences. Review the shared page before distributing its link.
You may disable public sharing through the available sharing control. Disabling sharing prevents the public page from being accessed through the share link, but it cannot retrieve copies or screenshots already saved by recipients.
11. Acceptable use
You may not:
- use the Services unlawfully, fraudulently, or deceptively;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent an affiliation;
- gain or attempt unauthorized access to an account, trip, system, database, or network;
- interfere with the operation, integrity, or security of the Services;
- upload malware or harmful code;
- scrape, crawl, or systematically extract content or data without written permission;
- reverse engineer the Services except where such a restriction is prohibited by law;
- circumvent access controls, usage limits, purchase requirements, or security measures;
- use the Services or College Visit content to develop or train a competing AI model, recommendation system, or substantially similar service without written permission;
- copy, sell, sublicense, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Services except as expressly permitted; or
- harass, threaten, abuse, or harm another person.
We may investigate suspected misuse and take reasonable protective measures.
12. College Visit intellectual property
The Services, including our branding, software, interfaces, designs, features, organization, and College Visit-created content, are owned by College Visit or its licensors and are protected by law.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Services and generated guides for personal and family college-evaluation purposes. No ownership is transferred to you.
13. Feedback
If you provide suggestions or feedback about the Services, you grant College Visit a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use and develop that feedback for any lawful purpose without compensation. This does not convert student notes, observations, or reflections into unrestricted feedback.
14. Third-party services and links
The Services may link to or integrate with third-party websites and services, including college, mapping, venue, and payment services. College Visit does not control and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, terms, or privacy practices. Your interaction or transaction with a third party is between you and that third party.
15. Changes and availability
College Visit is an early-stage service and may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features. We do not guarantee that a particular guide, institution, data source, integration, or feature will always be available.
Where reasonably appropriate, we will notify users of material changes affecting paid Services. If we discontinue a paid Service before providing purchased content or access, we may provide a refund, credit, replacement, or other remedy as appropriate and required by law.
16. Suspension, termination, and deletion
You may stop using the Services at any time and may request account or personal-information deletion as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend, limit, or terminate access if we reasonably believe these Terms were materially violated, an account is used fraudulently or without authorization, continued use creates a security or legal risk, suspension is required by law, or continued access could materially harm College Visit or others.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual-property provisions, permitted User Content licenses for retained information, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution.
17. Dispute resolution, arbitration, and class-action waiver
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.
Informal resolution
Before initiating arbitration or a lawsuit, the party raising a dispute must send written notice describing the party's contact information, the factual basis of the dispute, and the relief requested. Notices to College Visit must be emailed to support@collegevisit.ai with the subject "Legal Dispute Notice." The parties will attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute for at least 60 days after receipt, unless applicable law requires otherwise or earlier action is necessary to preserve a claim.
Individual arbitration
Except for the exceptions below, you and College Visit agree that disputes arising from the Services, these Terms, or the relationship between you and College Visit will be resolved through final, binding, individual arbitration. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this arbitration agreement.
Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its then-current Consumer Arbitration Rules, as modified by these Terms. The arbitrator may award the same individual remedies available in court to the extent permitted by law. Proceedings may occur by telephone, video, written submissions, or an in-person hearing under the applicable rules. Fees are governed by the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules, fee schedules, and applicable law.
Exceptions
Either party may bring a qualifying individual action in small-claims court, seek temporary or preliminary court relief to prevent actual or threatened intellectual-property infringement or unauthorized access to the Services, or pursue a claim that applicable law does not permit to be arbitrated. Nothing waives a non-waivable right to seek public injunctive relief.
Class-action and jury-trial waiver
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, EACH PARTY MAY BRING CLAIMS ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN A CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. EACH PARTY WAIVES THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL.
Unless the parties agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over a class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. If a final judicial decision finds the waiver unenforceable for a particular claim or remedy, that portion will proceed in a court of competent jurisdiction after arbitrable claims are resolved, unless law requires another procedure.
Arbitration opt-out
You may opt out by emailing support@collegevisit.ai within 30 days after first accepting these Terms. Use the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out" and include your full name, account email, and a clear statement that you opt out of the arbitration agreement in the College Visit Terms of Service. Opting out does not affect the remaining Terms or your ability to use the Services.
Except as specifically stated above, if part of this arbitration agreement is unenforceable, the remaining portions remain effective to the fullest extent permitted by law.
18. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." College Visit disclaims express and implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, accurate, complete, current, suitable for a particular student, or that any defect will be corrected. We do not guarantee a particular student experience, college outcome, event, business, activity, or third-party service.
Some jurisdictions do not permit certain disclaimers; in those jurisdictions, these disclaimers apply only to the extent permitted by law.
19. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COLLEGE VISIT AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, their total aggregate liability for all claims arising from the Services or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid College Visit during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) $100.
Nothing excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
20. Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless College Visit and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from third-party claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful or unauthorized use, material violation of these Terms, User Content submitted in violation of another person's rights, fraud, or willful misconduct.
This does not require you to indemnify College Visit for its own negligence, willful misconduct, or violation of law.
21. Governing law
California law governs these Terms and related disputes, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs Section 17. Nothing deprives you of non-waivable protections under applicable law.
22. Venue for non-arbitrable disputes
For a dispute not subject to arbitration and permitted to proceed in court, the parties consent to the personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California. To the fullest extent permitted by law, those courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
23. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Services, our business, or law. We will revise the Last Updated date and, for material changes, may provide notice through the Services or by email. Changes apply prospectively. Where required, we will request agreement to materially updated Terms. A material change to Section 17 will not apply to a dispute for which either party provided written notice before the effective date of the change.

25. General terms
These Terms and incorporated terms are the entire agreement concerning the Services, except for a separate written agreement between you and College Visit. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. Except as specifically stated in Section 17, an invalid provision will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent and the remaining provisions will continue.
You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. College Visit may assign them in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or by operation of law. These Terms create no third-party beneficiaries unless expressly stated. Headings are for convenience only.
You agree that notices, disclosures, and other communications may be provided electronically, including by email or through the Services, to the extent permitted by law.
